Magazine part III

Image based magazine covers are covers that have pictures that you took with a camera and only that. illustration based is where a cover has a drawing on it rather than a picture. Type based is where there is only text on the cover . Concept based is when it has all of those put together . So that means with words and illustration and text in a cover.

Fashion and Beauty Harper's Bazaar, September, Sarah Jessica Parker "In Bazaar’s biggest issue ever, Sarah Jessica Parker ushered in the fall season. Clad in Chanel and a feathered headpiece by Ellen Christine Couture, it’s clear why Parker is fashion’s queen bee. The stunning image shot by Terry Richardson showed that what’s essential in fashion is a bit of fun." I like this cover because her hair piece makes the cover more creative. When i saw the cover I was drawn to it because i've seen her on TV and know her face. But this picture brought more to the table on how her smile is and the shadow behind her . The words are good and the color of the words. But the words at the top are kinda hard to read but not that hard. The hair piece is so drawing that you just can't help but look at the cover which makes you want to see whats inside the magazine. The white background is appealing and it makes the cover look so clean and crisp.

magazine tips

What I should be thinking when i make my magazine is thinking about the  t ypeface, angle, overlap, silhouetting, shadow and trick of the words. Make sure the cover looks clean and interesting. Also should be thinking about familiar  recognition. Don't forget the image appeal and casual glancer. Then also showing off service.

self portrait and portraits intro

2. Play with Eye Contact It is amazing how much the direction of your subject’s eyes can impact an image. Most portraits have the  subject looking down the lens  – something that can create a real sense of connection between a subject and those viewing the image. But there are a couple of other things to try: A. Looking off camera –  have your subject focus their attention on something unseen and outside the field of view of your camera. This can create a feeling of candidness and also create a little intrigue and interest as the viewer of the shot wonders what they are looking at. This intrigue is particularly drawn about when the subject is showing some kind of emotion (ie ‘what’s making them laugh?’ or ‘what is making them look surprised?’). Just be aware that when you have a subject looking out of frame that you can also draw the eye of the viewer of the shot to the edge of the image also – taking them away from the point of interest in your shot – the subject. ...
